A recent discovery, having finally finished both The Broken Road and Artemis Cooper’s outstanding biography, is of the current dilapidated state of Patrick Leigh Fermor’s house at Kardamyli. This literary landmark was bequeathed to the Benaki Museum for use as a literary retreat for writers after Leigh Fermor’s death in 2011; however, partly due to the the Greek recession, little progress appears to have been made. The Patrick Leigh Fermor Society is appealing for donations, and further information as to progress is available at the excellent patrickleighfermor.org.
